Cultural heritage, safety, agriculture, health – towards the Internet of Things – the official launch of the 5G Trial, aimed at developing the latest generation of services to be implemented by 2020 for the city of L’Aquila and other communities.
The target of the project, presented at the Auditorium of the Parco del Castello, in the presence of Antonello Giacomelli, undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, as promoter of the initiative, is the transformation of the regional capital Aquila into a “5G City“.
The consortium, led by Open Fiber and Wind Tre, involves several Italian companies, including Brochesia, with the purpose of building a network infrastructure capable of connecting a multitude of devices and providing IoT services with high availability of broadband and very low latency. 5G Technology is not a simple evolution of current broadband networks, but it is a new technology with enormous potential both in terms of network and services. With its wide-scale diffusion it will be possible to improve the health assistance system, thanks to the use of Smart Glasses devices, to guarantee citizens greater security or even to create customized tours in museums thanks to Augmented Reality.
